Lora L. Durst, O.D. opened her practice in Topeka in January 2003, following several years as an associate in primary care optometric offices. She provides primary care optometric services to her patients, including comprehensive eye examinations, eye health evaluation, contact lens fitting and follow-up care, and the treatment and management of eye diseases and injuries.
Dr. Durst earned her undergraduate degree from the University Of California at Davis and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry. She further strengthened her clinical education by completing internships at Moffett Field Naval Air Station, Mountain View, California, Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, California and Kaiser Permanente ocular specialty clinics in Oakland, California. Dr. Durst also served as a teaching assistant for refractive techniques at the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry, providing instruction to second year optometry students. In addition, she served as a preceptor for third year optometric students, helping share her experience and training in clinical care and examination of patients.
A member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, Dr. Durst is also a member of the American Optometric Association, Cornea and Contact Lens Section and the Kansas Optometric Association.
Her hobbies include quilting, reading, all forms of physical fitness and spending time with her husband and three children.
